Panel installation commences for Australia’s largest PV project
Mon, 30 April 2012
Panel installation has commenced at the 10 MW utility-scale Greenough River Solar Farm in Geraldton, Western Australia.
Above-ground electrical work and structural support installation began four months ago, and the farm is now ready for the installation of approximately 150,000 First Solar PV modules.
Contractor and technology provider, First Solar, have joined owners Verve Energy and GE Energy Financial Services for development of the project.
Scheduled for completion in mid-2012, the project construction is expected to create almost 100 jobs.
Western Australia Energy Minister Peter Collier said “The demonstration of this proven technology in Western Australia on a commercial scale should encourage the development of larger projects and reduce renewable energy costs in the medium to long term.”
