According to the award evaluation team, EnaSolar won the award for its adaptive innovation of existing solar technologies and its customer-led product design.

Shortly after winning the award, EnaSolar received a number of calls from distributors who were interested in EnaSolar’s award-winning inverters.

EnaSolar Business Development Manager Alan Booth said: “Brand equity is hard to come by nowadays unless you have something to hang your hat on, so [winning an award] does make a difference.”

“[Our inverters] are innovative because of the way we have applied the technology. Our aim is to become the default inverter supplier in Australasia, and to do that we decided to do everything in New Zealand, which is very rare.”

EnaSolar’s parent company, Enatel, started out contracting manufacturing to the electronics industry in Christchurch. Now, Enatel produces a wide range of products and has become one of the key providers of standby direct current power solutions to the global market, particularly in Australia and Britain.
